Great Glen Paddle Challenge

A paddleboard/kayak race set against the stunning backdrop of the Great Glen which bisects Scotland from Fort William to Inverness.

The Great Glen has been one of the bucket list events for paddlers across the world. Showcasing Scotland in all her glory, paddlers cover the 92km length of the Great Glen with an option to cover the distance in one day, or two.

This really is a challenge for you, the paddler, against all the elements the Scottish Weather can throw at you. Conditions vary from flat calm where you have to work for every stroke, to ocean-going downwinders on the loch sections. Paddlers are required to have their own shore support as this is a point to point race.

The gathering point of Fort Augustus is in the middle of the course which allows race management to decide the night before whether to run it from South to North with the prevailing winds, or on occasion in reverse (North to South) to suit the weather forecast on the day. It also doubles as an excellent place for a party!

In 2025, we will be introducing a couple of new categories in addition to the solo challenge. We will offer a TEAM challenge – teams of 2-5 can take on the challenge together, and also a RELAY option, so again a team of 2-3 paddlers take it in turns to paddle the distance. However you choose to do it, we can’t wait to see you at the start line!
